ABOUT MY WORK

View resume

My professional career has been in graphic design and/or production art, and in addition I am constantly looking for opportunities to work with new materials, equipment, and crafting techniques. In college, I took classes in jewelry and metalwork, figure drawing, airbrush basics, stage lighting, set construction, and scene painting. In more recent years in addition to freelance design, I’ve leaned more into paper crafts, paper mechanics, and costume piece design/creation.

Being a multidisciplinary visual artist with a graphic design background helps me pivot between mediums by starting with an idea and forming a design, then thinking through the steps to make the design into a tangible object. I love graphic design, and I also love the challenge of projects that don’t fit neatly into a single category, like a stencil and hand painted sign, a unique gift with thoughtful details, or a multi-layered shadow box.

ABOUT ME

I read fantasy novels as a kid, did musical theater in high school, switched my college major from theater electrician to commercial art, and kind of accidentally joined the International Brotherhood of Magicians for a couple years in my 20s. I’ve lived up and down the US east coast from New York to Georgia with significant stops in the mid-Atlantic. Life eventually took me across the world to Tokyo, where I’ve spent most of the last 15 years.

In addition to graphic design and related art projects, I’ve been a professional actor (both voiceover and on camera) in Tokyo, I am studying Japanese, and I volunteer with an animal sanctuary. I enjoy urban fantasy, horror fiction podcasts, clever heroes, karaoke, learning about animal behavior, and hanging out with my cat.
